Reflections

Inquiry Essay Reflection:

My process of this piece all stemmed from the writing into the day on choosing the topic. I followed the steps that were given which was to choose a topic and to keep making the topic more Narrower until you hasve chosen your topic. The example that was given was “Rhetorical Bisexuality, then Bisexual rhetoric on social media, and finally Bisexaul rhetoric on Tumblr and TikTok”. This paved the way of me choosing my topic in the order of “Meditation, then How can meditation help me, and finally How can meditation help my mental health”. After this I wrote down questions to research on my topic and then wrote about what I got from that information. What I learned from the topic of my paper was that meditation is a practice that involves focusing one’s attention and awareness on a specific object, thought, or activity. It can be done in a variety of ways, including guided meditation, breath-based meditation, and body scan meditation. While there is no set time for meditation, studies show that doing one meditation session per day may be beneficial. Mudras are specific gestures that can be used during meditation to improve intuition, alertness, and sensory abilities, as well as purify emotions and thoughts. Also that Meditation has numerous and diverse benefits. Reduced stress and anxiety, improved emotional health, enhanced self-awareness, increased gratitude, better focus, improved sleep, pain management, lower blood pressure, and increased productivity are some of the reported benefits. There are also various types of meditation, including concentrative meditation, mindfulness meditation, and active/dynamic meditation, each with its own set of advantages. Another thing was Meditation can be beneficial to one’s mental health, according to scientific evidence. According to one study, meditation is associated with significant improvements in thought integration, concentration, and sense of relaxation, as well as a reduction in anxiety and depression. Other studies have found that meditation can help reduce anxiety and depression symptoms and may even have long-term effects on brain function and structure. Overall, meditation has the potential to be a useful tool for managing and improving mental health. While it is not a substitute for professional treatment, it can be an effective supplement to traditional therapies in helping people cope with stress and improve their overall well-being. My learning can be seen in my analysis’ of the evidence I used to show that I am understanding the material that was given and know how to break things down.

Rhetorical Analysis of Social Movements Essay Reflection:

My process of writing this essay was I just chose the Black Lives Matters movement was because that was the first social movement to pop into my head and then I just research rhetorical devices used during the movement. I learned that The Black Lives Matter movement is a vital and ongoing movement that seeks to advocate for the rights and equality of Black people. It has used a variety of rhetorical devices to draw attention to and advocate for change in Black communities. Repeating a word or phrase multiple times to emphasize its importance and drive home a point is one such device. The phrase “Black Lives Matter” has been used numerous times in the movement to emphasize the importance of Black lives and to draw attention to the ongoing struggle for justice and equality. I also learned how parallelism, which involves repeating a grammatical structure to create balance and symmetry, is another rhetorical device used in the Black Lives Matter movement. This device was used in protests following the deaths of Eric Garner and Michael Brown, and phrases such as “I can’t breathe” and “Hands up, don’t shoot” were used. These phrases foster protesters’ unity and solidarity while also conveying the message that Black lives are under threat. In Conclusion, the Black Lives Matter movement has used a variety of rhetorical devices, such as repetition and parallelism, to raise awareness about the issues confronting Black communities and to advocate for change. These tools have aided the movement’s efforts to achieve justice and equality for Black people. This displayed my learning because it showed that I was able to find rhetorical devices and break down and understand how they were used.

This I No Longer Believe Essay Reflection:

My process of writing this I was stumped at first when thinking of a topic so then I used the example oness given and chose one from there. After that while actually writing my piece there wasn’t really anything special I was just writing down the first thing that came to mind. While writing this piece i learned how romantic and platonic relationships can be complex and nuanced. Our perspectives and expectations of relationships can shift as we grow and experience new things. The writer’s perspective on relationships has evolved over time as a result of a number of factors, including witnessing toxic relationships, witnessing firsthand how people can treat each other poorly, and feeling drained by constantly worrying about the possibility of negative outcomes in relationships. Because of these experiences, the writer has become more pessimistic about relationships and has prioritized their own peace and well-being over constantly seeking out new ones. Also it is important to note, however, that not all relationships are negative or toxic. While it is critical to be aware of potential challenges and prioritize self-care, it is also critical not to let past experiences or fears prevent us from forming meaningful and healthy connections with others. Relationships can provide joy and fulfillment, but it is also important to recognize that each relationship is unique and may necessitate different levels of effort and communication to thrive. To foster healthy and fulfilling relationships, it is critical to communicate openly and honestly with others, set boundaries, and seek help when needed. Since this is the first essay of the class and it is towards the beginning of the semester I feel like you can’t really see growth because there isn’y any growth to base off and there wasn’t enough time for development.

Revision of This I No Longer Believe Essay Reflection:

In this revision I rewrote the essay in third person to change the effect that it gives to the reader. When the piece was in first person the reader can only just relate with what I’m saying but with it in third person and me not specifically naming someone the reader can put themselves in the shoes of the narrator and read it like they are talking about themselves and really feel what is being talked about. What I learned while rewriting this peice which is very similar to the original was when we consider the reality of relationships, we see that they can be a complex and multifaceted aspect of life. As we mature, we may realize that relationships can be both rewarding and challenging. While we may have idealized relationships as a source of happiness when we were younger, as we age and gain more experience, we may come to realize that they can be complex, and sometimes even toxic. This indivisual in the piece’s perspective on relationships has shifted as a result of a number of factors. They’ve noticed that some of the people around them were only there because they had mutual friends with them, and that they would gossip about them behind their backs. They have also witnessed toxic relationships, such as abuse and cheating, and have experienced the negative consequences of such relationships firsthand. These experiences may have contributed to a pessimistic attitude toward relationships, making them more hesitant to enter them and feeling drained by the constant fear that they will turn toxic. Also that Despite these difficulties, the individual maintains relationships with others, but they are not the same as they once were. There is always the possibility that something will go wrong, which can be emotionally draining and may cause them to withdraw more. It is critical to be aware of the realities of relationships and to strike a balance that is beneficial to one’s own well-being. Relationships can be both rewarding and challenging, and finding a way to navigate these complexities in a healthy and fulfilling way is critical. Comapared to what I learned from the first piece to this one, what I learned was very similar but slightly different and that slightly can go a long way.

Reflection on everything used in my portfolio:

I used my 3 essays to show my learning because you can look at them like a timeline in order to see how my writing has progressed throughout the semester. The first essay is the start where it is not used to judge what I learned but what do I know at that time and then moving forward to my research paper you can compare what literature techniques I compared to my first piece and then my last one you can view it overall as a piece whole and compare how developed it is compared to my other two pieces. I also included some writing into the days in my reflections to show some of the things that i had learned in the semester and also how my perspective on specific things has changed since the beginning.
